Age spots, also known as sun spots, liver spots or solar lentigines are results of excessive exposure to the sun for long periods of time. Skin cells and DNA are altered by the ultraviolet rays that comes from the sun. These damaged cells build up, which causes dark spots to appear on skin. They are common to aging people, although the occurrence of age spots is not really associated with one’s age.

Money, time and effort should be spent to effectively eliminate age spots. Age spots typically appear on the face, hands and shoulders, but they can be removed through various methods. There are many medication for age spots, wherever they are, be it in your face, hands or shoulders.

Skin cancers can be manifested with some brown spots, so to be sure that what you have is not cancerous, have a medical consultation first. Then, avoid too much sun exposure. That also includes tanning. Once you are sure that what you have are age spots, you can ensue to age spot removal. An effective way to get rid of age spots is by utilizing Nd:YAG laser, a form of laser treatment. These methods are painless, scarless and bloodless. The treatment requires paying a large amount of money.

Bleaching and whitening creams are some cheaper ways to fade age spots. These creams often contain hydroquinone, kojic acid or glycolic acid. They can help fade age spots in proper applications. Also see if your skin whitening cream contains some vitamins like B vitamins or vitamin E to maintain healthy skin cells. If you don’t want a dull white skin, then find one which contains lycopene.

You also have chemical peels as a choice. Chemical peels work by peeling off old skin to grow new skin cells. Chemical peels could employ alpha hydroxyl acid or beta hydroxyl acid.

Microdermabrasion can also get rid of age spots. This process uses tiny abrasive crystals and some pressure. It can also even skin tone which is uneven.

Cryotherapy is another option in removing age spots. Its downside is that a scar can remainon the treated area.

If you have undergone such treatments, you have to make skin care a habit to prevent age spots from coming back. Do this by using exfoliating creams or soaps on a regular basis. Use a sunscreen whenever you have to do something outdoors.

For those men and women who are over the age of forty the appearance of liver spots is quite common. Liver spots normally taking years to appear. The most significant factor is that these dark patches on the skin have nothing to do with the liver disease or human liver, although they have the word liver in its name. By a licensed dermatologist it is possible to have them removed. Moreover, liver spots may be esthetically unpleasing to some. It is significant to mention that the development of liver spots can be reduced by the daily utilization of such sort of moisture which containing an SPF sunscreen.

The question is that what are liver spots? It usually found on the skin of the face, shoulders, arms and legs and liver spots are also referred to as solar lentigines and age spots. As black or brown spots liver spots are appear on the skin that are of varying sizes as well as shapes. According to the reports of Mayo Clinic liver spots normally do not require any medical attention as liver spots are harmless.

On the skin that has been got more exposure of the ultra –violet radiation of the sun, liver spots usually appear on such areas of the skin. According to the explanation of SparkPeople.com excess of the sun can ruin the skin and may also the reason the body to respond by sending large amounts of pigment to the destroyed areas. It must be kept in the view that liver spots remain on the skin like a scar and do not fade over time.

Tanning beds can reason just as more harmful for the skin as solar rays, according to the BC Cancer Agency. Contrary to the famous vision the ultraviolet lights that are utilized in tanning beds are not protectable than the sun’s actual rays. Definitely ninety-five percent of ultraviolet A rays emit by the tanning beds, which may generates serious skin damage may be cancer as it can penetrate deep into the skin. It must be remember that to cause pre-mature aging of the skin is the potential of tanning beds, means more liver spots as well as more wrinkles.

Now we are going to discuss genetics. In this context there are some people may be more susceptible than others according to the explanation of Allergan Foundation when it comes to liver spots. There is no any confusion that in determining whether or not a person develops liver spots as they age, genetics can play a vital role.

An age spot would always be an age spot, no matter who has it, and regardless of wherever it is found. But if an age spot is relatively the same for each person who has it, why does it have several incarnations in the English language? Each of the terms used to describe an age spot does not show any sign of change in meaning or nuance, but all of them still refer to the exact same thing. If you consider some other important aspects, you will see that there is reasonable cause for having various terms for age spots. Here, we will tackle the titles that people most commonly use.

One of these labels is “solar lentigo”. The name gives us a hint that the sun has something to do with an age spot. This is partially correct, because almost all of the age spots that we see usually come from the effects of exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays along with the skin’s inability to quickly replace the damaged cells (a common sign of aging). “Lentigo” is just another way to call a freckle but in the Old Middle English Language, it refers to spots of lentil-shape. Therefore, using this context, we can call age spots as “solar lentil-shaped spots” or “lentil-shaped spots caused by the sun”.

A more normal term for an age spot can be the word “Senile freckle”. Instead of openly indicating that aging is the cause of “AGE” spots, the term “senile freckle” is therefore a more sensitive term to use. Of course, you can’t possibly use the term mistakenly for a regular freckle, given that you already know from a physical standard where you should use the term. In the end, we are still pointing to the very same age spot from the start.

On the medical side of things, age spots are commonly known as “lentigo senilis”. Doctors, nurses and all the other health professionals actually are educated and instructed to call this medical aberration as “lentigo senilis”, the authorized term. Basing on the previous names that we have given, we can only guess that it is the Latin version of the word “Senile freckle”. I wouldn’t try replacing “age spots” with it on casual conversations though, because you’d definitely sound some sort of a medical term geek.

Now, we focus our attention to the most prominent term for age spots – the “liver spots”. Before everyone began using the term “age spots”, people commonly used the term “liver spots”. Since the word liver is present in the term, some thought that the liver is significant to age spots. Indeed, for quite some time in the past, liver aberrations are believed to have caused age spots; thus, the term “liver spots” somehow prevailed.

But regardless of how you call an age spot, it is still an age spot. Now, if you do not want to regret still having it later in the future, you must do something about it immediately.

Those level lesions which usually range in color from brown to gray to black are called liver spots but most popularly known as age spots. The areas of the body that receive the sun’s rays for most of the time are the locations where these lesions are usually formed. These are facial skin and the skin of the upper extremities. A liver spot’s shape is oblong and its size range is from very minute to one centimeter in diameter. Then these spots are [accompanied] by wrinkles and dry skin – proof of considerable skin deterioration.

Although it is named a “liver” spot, this lesion has nothing to do with the liver. Therefore, what is the reason behind their formation in our skin, gives each and every skin a different shade. However, when our skin is frequently exposed to the damaging rays of the sun – the ultraviolet rays – the generation of this pigment is increased. As a result of this overproduction, age spots start to form. But this process does not happen overnight. This lasts ordinarily for a number of years. As a result, skin damage at present developes only when you reach late adulthood. Aside from the sun, there are also other causes responsible for age spot manifestation. Even tanning equipment popular to fair-skinned individuals are to blame. Lastly, liver spots are caused by age.

Though harmless, they could significantly affect your physical appearance and your self-esteem as well. Because of these, individuals who have liver spots decide to choose from the available treatment options to either lighten the spots or completely remove them. But these treatment options do not come for free.

One is the use of medicated creams or lotions that doctors prescribe. These creams containing hydroquinone, tretinoin or cortisone range from around ninety to two hundred dollars. Chemical peels are also available. If it is just a light peel, the charge is cheaper than the medium and deep peels. A light chemical peel usually ranges from two hundred to three hundred dollars. For five hundred to thousand dollars, you can procure medium chemical peels. And lastly, the most expensive, deeper peels range from three thousand to more than six thousand dollars. Then there is also the use of laser which kills the excess melanocytes in the skin. Laser therapy amounts to around one hundred dollars per small area. Then there is also the intense pulsed light therapy which uses light instead of laser and which usually costs seventy to eighty dollars per session per small area.

But the aforementioned costs are not standardized. But apparently, the final cost of your treatment will depend on the affected area’s size, materials bought, doctors’ fees and your recent residence’s cost of living. Therefore, it is still always best to ask your doctor.

The most dreaded thing on earth to most people could be ageing and age spots. Aging is inevitable, so for those who want to retain their young looking skin, they’ll try everything to maintain their skin. Wrinkles and fine lines are the common indicators of aging. Age spots are also a common thing to aging people.

Dark spots on the skin could be caused by several factors, one of which is exposure to the sun. Being exposed to the sun for long periods of time is a factor for having dark spots n the skin. What affects our skin color is the production of melanin in the body. Melanin shields the skin from the potential injury that sunlight can bring. The skin is apt to get darker when more time is spent under the sun. That is how melanin works. The annoying thing about it however is when melanin is produced unevenly, resulting to uneven skin tone and dark spots.

Dark spots are also associated to aging. blemishes on the face are totally unpleasant. If you are looking for an effective way of removing dark spots, you may choose from creams and gels and lotions. But those are not effective for all.

An effective way to remove dark spots is through Fraxel treatment. Fraxel stands for Fractional Erbium Laser. Fraxel is the shortened form of Fractional Erbium Laser. Other laser procedures could take many sessions and time, but Fraxel reduces all of that to one. Redness, swelling and peeling are the immediate results of other laser procedures. As the saying goes, when there is no pain, there is no gain.

The thing with Fraxel laser treatment is that its procedure could only take one session and it is very effective in removing dark spots from any parts of the body. Fraxel is a very effective solution to dark spots. Despite the fact of its safety and effectiveness, this treatment procedure could cost a lot of dollars. So, if your dark spots are not so many and severe, try another way for getting rid of them. But if you insist on this effective way of removing dark spots, then go for it.

Previous dark spots are removed by Fraxel treatment, but not future dark spots. Even if Fraxel has removed dark spots, it could return again. Take care of your skin through avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun and using SPF lotion.

Almost everybody can have age spots, which also goes by the name sun spots or solar lentigines. The skin’s exposure to the sun is one of its basic factors. The good news is, there are many ways to remove age spots. You can treat them at home or have it treated in a clinic. You should also be aware of the nature of age spots.

A person’s skin color is decided by the amount of melanin he or she produces. Melanin is the skin’s shield against too much ultraviolet rays. Ultraviolet rays destroy skin cells and DNA and this can also be carcinogenic. When the accumulated wasted melanin in skin bundles together, age spots are born.

Before concluding if you have age spots, a doctor’s confirmation is needed first. You can test the following treatments if you are already sure that they are age spots:

HOME MADE TREATMENTS

• Mix apple cider vinegar and onion extract, each with proportional amounts. Dab a cotton to the mixture and apply it on the age spots.

• You can also use aloe vera and rub it directly on skin. Application is done twice daily.

• Lemon juice can also lighten age spots. Just apply newly squeezed lemon juice in the morning and in the evening, leaving it to dry for about thirty minutes. Wait for the lemon juice to dry if you plan to go outside.

• Castor oil can also help in fading age spots.

The downside of the procedures mentioned above is that it may not have any effect at all. If you want a quick and effective way to eradicate age spots, you can try the options below.

OTHER TREATMENTS

• Microdermabrasion/dermabrasion – The idea of this method lies on shedding of skin using a coarse sander. Classic dermabrasion is painful and bloody so this type of treatment is rare nowadays.

• Another way to remove age spots quickly is by chemical peels. This approach uses some chemicals, specifically glycolic acid.

• Although expensive, you can be sure that laser treatments will give you a more lasting result. Laser treatments do not involve cells near the area to be treated. Pain is lessened with laser treatments.

Now, if you already got rid of your age spots with the treatments mentioned above, its time to give your skin “maintenance”. Try to avoid getting too much exposure to the sun especially when it’s hot. Apply sunblock or bring an umbrella when you go out. You won’t want these age spots to come back, do you?

Whoever manifests it and wherever in the body it may be found, age spots are age spots. Despite being the same age spot for every individual who acquires it, why then is it given varying terms? But we do not see any dissimilarity in their meanings, so why call them various labels aside from age spots? The reason behind this actually depends on some important aspects. Here, we will tackle the terms that people most commonly apply.

The first word on the list is “Solar lentigo”. As the term “solar” connotes, the sun is a relevant factor for age spots. This is partially correct, because almost all of the age spots that we see usually come from the effects of exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays along with the skin’s inability to quickly replace the damaged cells (a common sign of aging). In Old Middle English language, the term “lentigo” means spots that have the shape of lentils, although now, it is merely an alternate name for a freckle. Therefore, using this circumstance, we can call age spots as “solar lentil-shaped spots” or “lentil-shaped spots caused by the sun”.

“Senile freckle” is also one of the many terms for age spots but this one is more usual than the previously discussed term. This term somewhat holds a rather subtle tone than the word “AGE spots”, which definitely has no sign whatsoever of even hiding the origin of such skin lesion. Obviously, you should not commit the mistake of using the term “senile freckle” for a ordinary freckle for you already are informed of the difference between the two. It is nevertheless still the same old age spot, and can be quite comically depressing if you think about how the term is used on some people.

“Lentigo senilis” is more of a medical term than all of the other names of age spots. It is actually the authorized medical term for this skin alteration. This is actually perfectly the same as “senile freckle” – just the Latin version. I wouldn’t try replacing “age spots” with it on casual conversations though, because you’d definitely sound some sort of a medical term geek.

Lastly, the “liver spots”, as most of us if not all know, is the most well-known term for age spots. This term has been quite in used for a very long time, and is in fact the term used well before we could have used “age spots” colloquially. Since the word liver is present in the term, some thought that the liver is significant to age spots. It is commonly believed, at least for a short-while in history, that the age spots are actually caused by certain liver problems, hence the name “liver spot”.

Nevertheless, the presence of several names for age spots does not change the fact that an age spot is still and will always be an age spot. If you don’t do something about it, it might become the permanent seal that reminds you of your bitter position at the latter half of the human lifetime.

Does the thought of seeing those dark spots on your skin one fateful day agitate you? Is it petrifying just imagining yourself applying concealer on your skin just so you can hide those age spots? Are you anxious of spending no less than a thousand merely to remove those blemishes just in case you have them when you reach the age of forty? Or do you fear that complications, even though how negligible they may be, might arise from these treatments? If you answered yes to all of these questions, you should start protecting your skin as early as now!

So how do you do it? Simple: do not permit the sun harm your skin. Make sure your skin is adequately guarded from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. However, if you are on a holiday vacation, how can you possibly take care of your skin? Should you just wait until it gets pretty dark when no one can no longer lay eyes on that swimsuit or when it is not that safe anymore to swim? Or should you just exclude swmming in your agenda? That should not be the circumstance! Just comply with these instructions.

For the reason that you will be far from the safety of your home for a considerable time, you must anticipate and prepare everything that you might need. Be it a swimming at a beach, hiking the mountains or just plain enjoying the summer weather at any location, you must never forget to include a sunscreen in your to-buy list. See if that sunscreen you are holding contains titanium dioxide. This will protect you from both ultraviolet A and ultraviolet b rays. Moreover, see to it that its sun protection factor or SPF is fifteen at the minimum.

Now, before exposing yourself to the sun, do not dismiss from your mind to apply the sunscreen onto every part of your body, most especially the face. You should do the application twenty to thirty minutes before heading out the door. Or you can follow the instructions printed on your sunscreen’s label. Still following the label, reapply the lotion as necessary. Usually, reapplication occurs every after one or two hours. Though you should not let the sun to be completely out of the skies, it is still better to expose your skin in the late afternoon. The sun is at its most harmful condition from ten in the morning until three in the afternoon. You should therefore defy the sunny weather before ten in the morning or once it is past three in the afternoon. If you will not be wearing any swimsuit or if you have no plans of swimming at all, make certain that you are wearing protective clothing all over your body.

If there is no other way but to enjoy under the sun, always keep the previously mentioned reminders into mind. Although you would not be going out, your sunscreen should still be used. So, if you are that petrified of having age spots, remember and follow this article by heart!

Flat moles are referred to as dark mole spots / age spots which are not raised on the skin. They can appear anywhere on the skin and can come in varying colours of brown , pink or tan. Majority of moles found on skin are flat in shape and they come in even colours and regular shapes. It is generally believed that flat moles can be easily removed than raised moles, and with a fade cream , the appearance of a flat mole can be lessen and with time may even fade away completely if it is not a Malign tissue formation. Flat moles are so called because they do not protrude out of the skin unlike raised moles. Just like other types of moles, flat moles can also get darker like age spots especially when left untreated .

Aside the use of fading creams, flat moles can also be removed through a number of other processes. Flat moles are characterized with a regular shape and colour, the regularity of the shape and size of these kinds of moles may sometime extend beyond their original position especially when flat moles are left untreated. In most cases flat moles do not change to malign except they become more pronounced and raised. Flat moles could be congenital or acquired in nature. A congenital flat mole is also referred to as Congenital nevus, it is a flat mole which appears on the body of an infant or new born. It is believed that almost everyone has one or more moles especially at birth, these kind of flat moles can vary from small to large or giant size moles which can extend to around 20 centimeters and these large flat moles carry a higher risk of developing into melanoma

The typical mole is also referred to as Dysplastic nevi. This is the kind of flat mole can appear larger than average and can also come with irregular shape. Many of these flat moles often come with a mixture of colours such as tan, brown , red and pink. People with Dysplastic nevi are at higher risk of developing melanoma and they often run in the family. The acquired flat mole does not generally call for a huge concern, these are flat moles acquired at birth , people who have more than 50 of these moles may develop melanoma later in the future , hence it is ideal to check with a dermatologist.

Age spots are a concern if they affect the looks of an individual, depressing his or her self confidence. Another issue about age spots is its alleged progression to cancer. But before jumping into conclusions, you have to know some basic things about age spots and skin cancer, and see how they are related to each other.

Age spots, which also go by the names liver spots, sun spots and solar lentigines are just common indicators of aging or sun damage to the skin. Those parts of the skin which absorbs too much sunlight are more affected. It can be concluded that aging is not only the cause when it comes to developing age spots. It happens that damaged melanocytes (the cells which gives us our skin pigment) accumulates together, thus forming these pigmented spots on skin.

Skin cancer however is not only brought about by sunlight. Smoking tobacco and getting exposed to harsh chemicals are some of skin cancer causes. Heredity is another factor. There are three basic types of cancer, sorted by the skin cells they affect. Since they concerns the melanocytes, squamous cells and basal cells, these cancers are named after them. There are other types of skin cancers, but the three mentioned earlier are the most common forms.

The question is, can age spots develop to cancer? The answer is still uncertain, but since both age spots and skin cancer have a common factor, which is excessive exposure to the sun’s harmful rays, there could be a chance. It could happen if age spots are disregarded.

The good news is, skin cancer is very easy to realize because it occurs on the skin surface. Skin cancer symptoms include non healing lesions and moles that grow, change in color or shape. A simple mole can also be a cancer, especially if that mole just appeared and it also changes its color, size and has an irregular shape. In the case of having age spots, melanoma can be hard to set apart and identified from age spots since melanoma slightly resembles age spots.

What can be done to avoid all of this fuss? First, you have to limit your sun exposure. Don’t go out if you don’t have to. Having age spots gone can also lower your risks. If you apply sunscreens, your risks are lowered too. Bringing an umbrella is a wise move. You can always prevent things from becoming worse.
